PROGRAMME STRUCTURE FOR INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS

English Language Reguirement
The academic programme is by the semester system and it commences in September (for Semester 1). A total of 120 to 140 credit hours are required to complete a degree programme. The medium of instruction is in English (for science based courses). Social Science based programmes however may use the Malay Language as a medium of instruction.
All international students are required to undergo compulsory English courses ranging from 4 to 6 months. These courses will be conducted by the University. Only students with a TOEFL score of 550 and above and/or IELTS band 6 or General Certificate of Secondary Education (ordinary level), University of Cambridge with a credit pass or General Certificate of Education (Advance Level) University of Cambridge with a pass may be exempted from the English Language course.

Malay Language Requirement
Students with an A Level (Pass) or an O Level minimum score of C6 and above in the Malay Language may be exempted from prerequisite Malay Language courses. Students without the above qualification will be required to attend and complete successfully the Malay Language Programme offered by the University prior to graduation.
It is COMPULSARY for all international students who are accepted into the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, Academy of Islamic Studies or Academy of Malay Studies to undergo and PASS the Malay Language Programme. This programme will last between 4 months to 6 months.
